Collaborations with Universities

The Training Lab is a Center recognized by the University of Florence as a Reference Center for teaching in the field of Functional Rehabilitation and Motor Activities.
Students from the School of Specialization in Sports Medicine and the Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science carry out internship periods under the guidance of the Center’s Therapists and Instructors.
Specialists from the Center give Functional Rehabilitation Lectures at the Faculty of Sport Sciences of the University of Florence.
The Center has activated a collaborative program with the Musculoskeletal and Neurological Institute of Ohio University for a research project in injury prevention in athletes.

Dustin Grooms

Professor, Physical Therapy (Ohio University)

Dustin Grooms is a professor at Ohio University, known for his innovative research in the field of orthopedic rehabilitation. His academic work focuses on the neurological and biomechanical changes that occur after musculoskeletal injury. Grooms has won numerous awards for his research, which has led to significant therapeutic advances.

Among his major contributions are the discovery of injury-associated neuroplasticity and the implementation of advanced technologies such as virtual reality to improve rehabilitation protocols. In addition, he has developed innovative therapies such as sensory reweighting and cognitive testing for return to activity, which have greatly improved orthopedic patient outcomes.

Grooms is also a dedicated educator, committed to training students and promoting interdisciplinary research.
